Roofing screws with EPDM-washers: fastening with no infiltrations!

At last!

The stainless steel roofing screws with EPDM-washers are now available in our web shop!
Thanks to the stainless steel AISI 304 washer and to the pre-assembled EPDM gasket,  they guarantee a perfect watertight seal. The EPDM rubber (ethylene – propylene – diene) is a saturated propylene rubber and has additional double lateral bonds created by a reaction with the diene component. This allows the vulcanization with sulphur and accelerants.

EPDM rubbers show a good resistance to:
-    heat (withstand hot water and steam up to 200°C for long periods)
-    wear
-    impact strength (40% to 60%)
-    chemicals (using it with hydrocarbons is not recommended)
      o    Glycol-based brake fluids
      o    Leaching fluids containing sodium and potassium (detergents and many organic and inorganic bases)
      o    Saline solutions and oxidizing agents
      o    Water and glycol based hydraulic fluids
      o    Hydraulic fluids containing phosphoric acid esthers
      o    Oils and silicone greases
      o    Many polar solvents (such as alcohols, ketones, esthers, Skydrol 500 and 7000)
-    low temperatures (to -50°C)
 

Furthermore, EPDM rubbers have:
-    good elasticity
-    good insulating properties
-    high gas permeability (even if this use is still not recommended)
